Inspired by the 10 minutes battle between Mickey Mouse and the enchanted broomsticks in Fantasia, this Jerry Bruckheimer/Disney cgi-fest is hoping to kickstart a new franchise. The storyline is a typical hero-vs-madman for control of the world (or New York, which may be the same thing). A young man is taken in for training by an ancient wizard, and reluctantly learns the arts of magic. When he foolishly releases the baddie from his enchanted captivity, the stage is set for several special-effects-heavy battles as the fate of the world hangs in the balance.

The big-screen version of the famous TV series features South Africa's Sharlto Copely as Murdoch. As per the series, four army veterans are falsely convicted of a crime they did not commit. They break out of jail and go underground, trying to clear their name while at the same time helping other people in trouble, and managing to stay one step ahead of the assorted law officials after them. Expect plenty of explosions.

Chris Nolan spent nearly ten years working on the script for this well-rated mindbender. It follows a young man, recently widowed, who specialises in stealing ideas from people's dreams. He is now offered a lucrative job: the chance to do the opposite and instead to plant some ideas in the target's mind, while he is asleep. He assembles a team to help him, but they encounter unexpected challenges leading to lots of action. At the time of writing, the film comes in at number 3 on the IMDB's Top 250 list.

Set in 391 A.D. at Alexandria in Egypt, this is the story of a remarkable woman caught up in empire-changing events. She was a polymath, continuing the family business of educating people. At the time, Christianity was on the rise, and she found herself directly involved in the battle between religion and science. The situation deteriorated into violence as the Christians struggled for dominance against the 'pagans', culminating in the horrendous torching of the library at Alexandria.
